Social Media Monitoring is critical in a world of content creators (123 million consumers of user-generated content consumers in the U.S. alone!). However, remember that Social Media monitoring is only one piece of the measurement equation. Social Media monitoring can provide important insights into overall buzz and the state of your brand online, but it is not a sufficient measurement of ROI. When choosing a monitoring tool or service, remember that there is no such thing as completely automated monitoring. No matter what tool you use, human manpower is required to scrub the data returned and to analyze what it really means to your brand and your Social Media program.
